Route description

Coming from Schiphol / Amsterdam:
Take the A1 in direction Amersfoort / Apeldoorn. Take exit 12 (Bunschoten) at the end of the exit lane take the roundabout for ¾, direction Amersfoort. Follow Amersfoort Centrum (not Centrum Noord!). Under the train viaduct take the first road left. See further route description Amersfoort.

Coming from Utrecht / South Netherlands / Rotterdam – The Hague:
Make a connection with the A28 that starts east of Utrecht. On the A28 take exit 5 (Maarn). At the traffic lights at the end of the turnoff lane, go left in direction of Amersfoort. Follow the road till you arrive at the T-junction of the circular road of Amersfoort called Stadsring. Go left and follow the stadsring till you see the town hall on your right hand side. Coming from the north, Zwolle / Harderwijk (A28):
Take exit 8 (Amersfoort). At the traffic lights go to the right. From there go all the way straight ahead till you see the town hall on your right hand side. See further route description Amersfoort.

Coming from the east, Arnhem / Nijmegen (A12):
Take exit 21 (Maarn). At the traffic lights at the end of the turnoff lane, turn left in direction of Amersfoort. Follow the signs Amersfoort and finally the signs Amersfoort Centrum till you arrive at the T-junction of the circular road, de Stadsring. Take a left turn and follow the Stadsring till you see the Town Hall on your right hand side. See further route description Amersfoort.

Coming from the east, Apeldoorn (A1):
Driving onto cross point “Hoevelaken” near Amersfoort, choose the A28, direction Amersfoort / Utrecht. Take exit 8 (Amersfoort). At the end of the turnoff lane, at the traffic lights, turn right. Follow the signs Centrum, till you see the town hall on your right hand side. See further route description Amersfoort.

Route description Amersfoort

Amersfoort

1: You drove on the circular road of Amersfoort called “Stadsring” and you now arrived at a very ugly town hall, a historical center unworthy. Please accept our apologies and turn into the small street in front of the town hall. This is the Molenstraat. Return to map.

het stadhuisplein

2: Two hundred meter into the Molenstraat you turn left under the building, passing the entrance of a parking garage at your left hand. This is the Stadhuisplein. Return to map.

Achter Davidshof

3: In a few hundred meters your arrive at a T-junction and ahead of you, you see this building. Go left. This little street is called Achter Davidshof, an old graveyard that currently serves as city park. The road ends at a large parking lot. Take a right turn in the road passing the parking lot. de Koppelpoort

4: You arrive at the Koppelpoort, the city gate of Amersfoort that was erected in the 14th century. Pass the gate on the right side. Return to map.

het Kleine Spui

5: You are driving on the right side of a canal called Kleine Spui, famous for the traditional brewery. Return to map.

het Flehite museum

6: At the end of Kleine Spui you find the Flehite Historical Museum of Amersfoort. Take a left turn. Return to map.

't Zand

7: Within hundred meters it will not be permitted to drive on to ‘t Zand, with its churches and large oak trees. Turn right. Return to map.

Het Havik

8: Drive straight on over the “Nieuwe weg”(new road), one of the oldest roads in The Netherlands. Stop at the top of the old round bridge, giving you this view through your left car window. Return to map.

Havik 23

9: This is the Havik, Informationland is situated on the right side of the canal at no 23. Havik is rusty old Dutch for harbour area. In the past water streamed up to the houses, which were all for storage and trade. The Havik is not a real canal but a side arm of a local river. Permanent residence occurs since the last 1200 years.
